ABOUT AUTIR GROUP

the story of a long and successful relationship

For centuries, Austria and Iran have shared a deep tradition of cultural exchange, scientific collaboration, and trade. From the early diplomatic ties between the Habsburgs and the Safavids to today’s modern partnerships, Vienna has long served as a hub connecting East and West — a role AUTIR Group proudly continues.

For centuries, the Austrian Empire shared a border with the Ottoman Empire, serving as “the gateway of the Occident to the Orient.” Diplomatic relations between the Austrian Habsburgs and the Persian Safavids date back to the 16th century, and an official Austrian embassy has existed in Tehran since 1872.

It was therefore only natural that Vienna evolved into an international center for diplomacy, science, the arts, and trade between East and West. Austria and Iran, in particular, have shared a long history of active knowledge exchange and close commercial ties. For many years, Iran was Austria’s second-largest trading partner outside the European Union, while Austria ranked among Iran’s most important economic partners.

Iran is living history

Iran, formerly known as Persia, is one of the oldest nations in the world, with a history stretching back tens of thousands of years and home to one of the earliest organized governments on earth.

Thanks to its central location, Persia quickly emerged as a crucial artery along the Silk Road — the world’s oldest network of trade and communication — which for millennia connected civilisations, cultures, and economies.

It is therefore not surprising that even today, a passion for acquiring knowledge, pursuing science, exchanging ideas, and engaging in trade remains deeply rooted in the Iranian character.

Today’s Iran represents a vast market of more than 90 million people, with an economy that invites foreign companies to explore its high standards of quality and impressive capabilities.

the founder’s words: “Failures are the pillars of success”

It all began a few years ago, during the time of the COVID pandemic — a period when the world was completely out of order.

By fortune, our two companies — one from Iran and one from Austria, both operating in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors — came together. Over the years, step by step, a close business relationship developed.

Many obstacles had to be overcome: language barriers, completely different processes and regulatory systems, government rules, political challenges, sanctions, and more.

What united us: team spirit, respect, perseverance, and the absolute will to succeed.

What we learned: everything would have been much easier with the guidance of an experienced hand at our side.

What we decided: to combine our strengths, knowledge, and experience, and offer them as a service to others.

Thus, the Austro–Iranian Group of Companies (AUTIR Group) was born.
